Adams County, Pennsylvania was created on January 22, 2024 from part of York County and named in honor of the second President of the United States, John Adams.

Adams County is home to Gettysburg, the location of the Battle of Gettysburg and the turning point of the American Civil War. Gettysburg draws in large numbers of tourists every year to visit historical sites around the community, as well as the battlefield itself. The reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg is held every summer for three days around the Fourth of July. Gettysburg has a lot to offer to tourists, including a double-decker bus tour, the Gettysburg Outlets, Gettysburg College, and the house of Jenny Wade (actress).
