Boyertown has a rich history dating back to 1720 when John Salter and other early settlers including Jonathan Rhoads, Henry Baer, the Shaners, the Schaeffers and the Henry Boyer family. Henry Boyer purchased a farm in what is today near the town center. He built a hotel where the “Philadelphia and Reading” roads intersected.
